Over the past few years, I’ve had an opportunity to traverse a few trails (stone mountain (Atlanta, GA), 1000 island trials (Gananoque, ON), but nothing as physically demanding as the Mont-Megantic trail.
Here are a few statistics on Mont-Megantic :
- 10.7 km of trail
- 1105 meters elevation
- Intermediate difficulty
- Early Cretaceous age of rick
- Intrusive stock mountain type
Here are a few of my statistics :
- 26,000 steps logged
- Duration of 7 hours (including a 45 minute rest)
- Gained 7 Fitbit badges
- Drank 4 bottles of water & ate 3 cans of sardines
Key takeaways :
Nature is evidence of God’s greatness
- Nature is evidence of God’s greatness
- Once you reach the summit, the incredible view makes everything worthwhile.
- The trail really put my body to the test, there were points where I felt like turning back, but I pushed through the pain and achieved my goal. It was a great feeling.
- The atmosphere can really have an impact on your body. As I progressed up the mountain, it became more difficult to breath and my heart rate increased rapidly.
- The peak of the mountain is very quiet, similar to a ghost town. It’s a little weird, but very peaceful. (I almost fell asleep)
- On the trail, the people you meet are very encouraging. I was greated with a number of “saluts” and “bonjours”. One lady also encouraged me by letting me know I was close to the peak. This gave me a boost of energy.
- CARDIO & KNEES – 2 areas I need to target at the gym
- Stepping on a rock & it moving is an uneasy feeling
If you are ever in the MAC MEGANTIC region, I suggest you give it a try.
